I literally woke up this morning and had no idea what day it was. Adam knew. Thank God I keep him around, huh?
A couple of weeks ago, I took him on our first date sponsored by me. It wasn't anything terribly special. Well, for ME it was, but not for him. Is that selfish? Anywho, we went to see Pete Yorn play at the Voodoo Lounge in town. Due to the fact that I can't resist free hotdogs and they were giving them away at the loft building our office is located in, I ruined our dinner together. Oopsy. Damn free GRILLED hotdogs. We ended up getting a quick snack at Toby Keith's bar place. Blah. The only good that came out of that place was the fact that our tables were made from Tree Frog Veneer in Lapiswood Straight Grain with a half inch of resin poured over the top. Super sweet.
The most amazing part of the evening was that Zee Avi opened up for Pete Yorn. Sweet little Zee. She was so cute. I'm so glad that a mere week before Pete's show, Christie emailed me that YouTube video and discovered her for me. I was already addicted to her whole cd and found out the day of the concert that she was opening for him!! And there she was sitting on her little chair playing her guitar to an audience of 20 or so. We were so close.
After her set, I had to go to the bathroom. It was right next to the merchandise table. As promised, she showed up right when I walked up to the table and I quickly bought a cd and had her sign it for me. I told her "You are so cute!" and she said "I know, I'm tiny! I call myself 'space efficient!'" Ha!
Adam and I were drinking a bit that night. It's nice to let loose every once in a while. So then, after cute little Zee played MARVELOUSLY, Pete came out. And he was awesome! I could literally have touched his (unzipped) boots if I had wanted. But, I will admit, his pants were a bit tight for my tastes (Hello Pete and your buddy in your pants!).
Okay. It's literally been like two weeks since I started the above post. I'm so lame.
So yeah, Pete Yorn was great. Even Adam was impressed :)
Things that have happened as of late:
Mailed my Missouri application for my architecture license in this week.
Went to southern MO last weekend and went on a raft float trip with my JC peeps. We had a great time. I'm bruised.
Ate Indian food with Adam on Sunday night and leftovers on Monday night. Have been spotted like a polka dotted princess all week. Spots are finally disappearing slowly.
Have been informed that may have to take some FRidays off unpaid. Will be notified early in the week when we do (i.e. took a vacation day last Friday that turned into an unpaid day).
Um. I guess that's about it. I asked my boyfriend on a date for Saturday night and he said yes! How awesome! He travelled to Florida last Wednesday - Friday and I left for Willow on Thursday night until Sunday afternoon so that was our longest time away from each other! It was excruciating. I went to bed early every night.
The first night he called me and I went outside to talk on the phone at my mom's house because I get ZERO reception inside and I spotted an armadillo. I threw a rock at it and actually hit it! IT jumped about 5 feet in the air and fell on it's back then waddled off. It was hilarious! Mom wishes I had a gun instead of a rock. Stupid hole diggers.
This weekend will be filled with some sewing. Woo. I went to Urban Arts & Crafts a couple weekends ago and realized how small KC really is...the girl who checked me out knew Adam through her friend that knits with them whose husband he shares a wood shop with downtown. The other girl knows Colleen because she used to work with her mom and her husband still works there. Whew. They tried to talk me into taking up knitting. I'm not sure I can do it. Knitting seems hard. When you're left-handed.
Okay. Pete Yorn pics!
You know, knitting isn't really that hard, even if you're left handed. You just need to find a left-handed knitter to teach you the basics. :)
Also, I keep hearing about Zee Avi & haven't checked her out beyond the youtube video, but think I'm going to have to do that soon.
